atos trio launches own concert series in Berlin
Starting with the 2012/13 season the ATOS Trio starts its own Berlin concert series at the "Heimathafen Neukoelln". On November 22nd, the first of four concerts, the trio will perform Beethoven's "Archduke"-Trio and the Trio in E-flat major by Franz Schubert. The series was made possible by the Special Ensemble Fellowship from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust that the ATOS Trio received in February 2012. More details can be found at
ATOS in Berlin atos trio receives borletti-buitoni-stipend
London-based Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) has awarded the ATOS Trio with its 'BBT Special Ensemble Fellowship'prize for the trio´s exceptional artistic endeavours. The ATOS Trio joins an exquisite selection of former artist winners: Quartetto di Cremona, Sol Gabetta, Vilde Frang, Julian Steckel and Veronika Eberle, to name but a few. In connection to this prize, the Trio will receive financial support to form their very own concert series in Berlin, which will combine regular classical programs with extensive outreach in a less privileged neighborhood and noon concerts for elementary school children.
new cd: piano trios by mendelssohn
The ATOS Trio is being lauded around the globe by audiences and critics alike and is being labeled wih a number of superlatives. A critic in the USA wrote: „Following the retirement of the Beaux Arts Trio, the ATOS Trio may well be positioned to take over as the premier piano trio of today."
For their recordings, as well, the trio is receiving praise. Now, their new project is being published on CPO, both piano trios by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. After having done some „treasure-hunting“ for the CPO label (where the trio recorded two albums with works by Herzogenberg and Josef Suk), the ATOS Trio now has chosen the Mendelssohn piano trios, quite epochal works with large scope. Many composers were strongly influenced by these masterworks, and Schumann´s famous statement, labeling Mendelssohn as „Mozart of the 19th century“ came into life after hearing Mendelssohn´s trio in d-minor, op.49, which here is recorded by the ATOS Trio with its sister wok, the great trio in c-minor, op.66.
back in the usa
The ATOS Trio is looking forward to a work-intensive and varied month of April. The internationally acclaimed piano trio will visit and perform in New York, Washington, Cleveland and Kalamazoo. Audiences everywhere are waiting impatiently for the trio to arrive. Last year, a New York critic wrote:“If you have an opportunity to see the ATOS Trio, I recommend you run - don't walk - for tickets." Towards the end of this travl-rich month, the trio is invited to perform in Glasgow to perform with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Andrew Manze Beethoven´s Triple Concerto.
